1600" of fraying

Hey friends,

Have you tried this yet? I attempted it first in doll quilt size for Beans.

I recently found out that my great aunt is in hospice and I want to make her a quilt - quickly.  One idea I had for a quick design was the 1600 method. As I waited for her fabric to arrive, I consulted a tute and practiced with an old jelly roll from Joann's. The problem? The edges are not pinked so they fray and fray and fray. Oh, and I tried to carefully randomize the order - and so it came out with like colors touching anyway - OOPS! Moving right along...

This is the fabric I decided on, but I'm having trouble narrowing down a design.

My books aren't helping : I want to make every single quilt in each of the books

I'd really like a simple but pretty and FAST design for her twin quilt.

Question: What quick method is your go-to favorite for twin size quilts?

Bummer!

I have spent the last couple of days and nights drinking a cosmo (or 2)  and trying to figure out this whole "no reply blogger" NONSENSE!!! I got an email from a kind woman on whose blog I had left a comment the other day informing me that I was in the dreaded and highly unpopular "no reply blogger" population... GRRR.

I looked at several freakin blogs which explained how to change my settings, but I simply could not get it. I even went so far as to ask a complete internet stranger to go in and do it for me!! Her response?
 "calm down"

Ok, so I figured out that Google + was the actual problem and the reason I could not see the option "blogger profile" which is what needed to change.  Today I went back in and actually found the solution. In the blogger dashboard page, you have to click on the gear looking thingy on the right. Under there, you can choose "old blogger interface" and then suddenly all those directions make sense. You can then continue on with the instructions located on many many blogs such as:  Pleasant Home.. As my toddler  likes to say: BINGO!

The only bad part is that I entered many giveaways on the Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day and I may have won something and lost out!! DARN!

I'll try to talk about something interesting here and there to make it worth your while, but mostly this blog is about my quest to sneak new fabric in the house without my hubs finding out ..I also resolved this year to get as much quilting advice as possible, so I have questions - lots of 'em!

Bloggers Quilt Festival 2012

Bloggers' Quilt Festival - May 2012

Amy's Creative Side
I've been eagerly anticipating this event ever since I read about it on Amy's Creative Side blog!  I decided to go with one that I made last year called Sea Glass. The wonky log cabins are inspired by the tutorial series fromQuilt Dad. I love the colors of the sea - I made this quilt as a way to try the technique and the colors together. I didn't have a specific recipient in mind until my toddler came in and gave it a kiss cause she loved it.. SOLD!

Back
I love those pics where the poor quilter's husband is forced to hold up the quilt until the perfect shot is taken! "My arms are soooo tired"
Surprise! It's just me!
This small baby quilt is about 35 x 42" and is made entirely of scraps & solids (except the block centers)  Thanks for stopping by - Happy Blog Surfing!!

Trying something new

Happy Thursday! Like many of my sewing friends, I usually spend evening-into-late-night time sewing. - after the kiddos are in bed.  I would prefer to sew in the morning though - to get a good start after the big kids are gone and before the little one wakes up. Most mornings I have that intention as I chillax in front of the computer drinking coffee until it's too late.

Not today! I'd gone to bed thinking of this baby quilt I'm working on so I jumped up this morning to work on it for a bit in peace. To state the obvious - it takes forever when you're making it up as you go.  My question today: How do you prefer to design a quilt? Make it up while you work? Work it out on paper or the computer?

I had some Daisy Cottage charms from the fabulous "taking a break" sale at Quilting in the Rain ..

finished just in time for sleepyhead to appear!
