My latest finish is for an auction. My gutsy girlfriend is a volunteer for a charitable organization that her children belong to. She's gutsy because she signed up all her girlfriends to donate things for their upcoming auction and then she asked us. So, we have someone donating Pilates lessons, someone painting a picture, someone baking, and me making a small quilt. Don't worry - we all offered to smack her before starting on our various projects.
I thought I should go with something neutral and modern in order to (hopefully) appeal to SOMEONE. I used various shades of grey, one shade of black and a tiny bit of Kona cactus. On the back is a fun print I discovered on a recent trip to Ikea. I call it Night Sky.

I love the backing too. Great finish.
ReplyDeleteI love this!
ReplyDeleteI wish I was in the running for it. I love it and the backing. I need to head over to Ikea for fabric. Beautiful work.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteA really lovely quilt. I especially love the little pops of colour from the Kona cactus. That backing fabric is so much fun. I bought loads of it last year and it's come in ever so handy.
ReplyDeleteI like that you added the little splash of yellow. Great job.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt and your friend is too funny! Thanks for sharing.

Really nice work...do I have to make my son's quilt an "auction" quilt so I can get it before he goes to college?! :-)
ReplyDeleteSuper cool - I love that pop of color!
ReplyDeleteIt would certainly appeal to me! I'm sure it will do well in the auction. Careful, though, your friend may volunteer you for more next time if this one does too well!
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm sure this will appeal to LOTS of people! Great job - I love it! (charlottesgraceforacure[at]gmail[dot]com)
ReplyDeleteThat's a lovely quilt. Simple colours but very effective. I hope it raises lots of money.

ReplyDeleteThis is a really fun layout, and the backing is great too!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing at Needle and Thread Thursday!
