New beginning

Hello again friends,

At the time of my last post, I had no idea how long it would take me to return again to "blogland."
A couple of weeks ago, I received the news that my mother had died unexpectedly.  There followed a whirlwind trip for our family all the way from PA back home to AZ full of all the dramas that go along with that sort of trip.

We've been back a week or so and I've felt really weird about going back into my life's routine - as if all were normal. I haven't been down into the sewing room. I did however, find the heart to buy fabric; much to the hub's aggravation. He sure has been observant lately as he said I'm going "quilt crazy!"  I try to get the mail carrier to put the boxes in discrete locations around the house, but I guess she's busy. I suppose it is a little crazy considering all the input with no output.

I came across this poem the other day and it really helped me get some perspective.

She is Gone
You can shed tears that she is gone
Or you can smile because she has lived
You can close your eyes and pray that she will come back
Or you can open your eyes and see all that she has left
Your heart can be empty because you can't see her
Or you can be full of the love that you shared
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday
Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday
You can remember her and only that she is gone
Or you can cherish her memory and let it live on
You can cry and close your mind,
be empty and turn your back
Or you can do what she would want:
smile, open your eyes, love and go on.
David Harkins

and that is the kick in the pants that I needed. Thanks for listening

Francine

  2. Francine, I am so sorry to hear of your family's sorrow. My heart goes out to you at this very difficult time. (My dad passed away in March and we did the same sort of trek from Florida to Nova Scotia.) Hold your Mom in your heart and she is only a thought away as always.

By the way, did you receive my package of mugrugs and fabric in December/January?
