FAL Catch up

Hello friends! It's been a busy few weeks and I, for one, am so glad the holidays are over! Every year I vow to keep things simple and end up busier and busier.


A few nights ago, I finished up my game room/family room cushions. These are in the basement and I've used so much white, I almost don't want to go down and look at what the kids have/will do to them.

I used 26" feather pillow forms from Ikea for both.
The first pillow was made using Kelby Sews - Love Letters pattern. I just love how the colors tie in with the pictures on the wall. I also learned to extend a zipper as I didn't have one long enough.

The 2nd pillow was made from a block I made at Peaks this year. I had originally sashed this block in white and wasn't sure what it would become. The pattern is Karen's Autumn Leaves.

 I decided to change the sashing to the same Kona coal used in the leaves and then finish it in white.

The backing for both cushions is a canvas print from Ikea called Tidny. 

 This brings my Q4 finishes to a whopping 3 lol.

I tried to make a more manageable to-do list in Q3 and I enjoyed a few more finishes as a result! I'm sooo tempted to go crazy in Q4..
1. Finish flying geese improv quilt

 Status: finished!

2. Make 2 more pillows for family room couch

 Status: finished!

3.  Finish Garden Party quilt

 Status: Bordered added,back finished and quilting started

4. Downstairs sofa cushions

 Status: not started

5. Apron

 Status: finished!

6. Noodlehead divided basket

 Status: scared to start

7. Supernova friendship quilt
 Status: All blocks finished, time to put it together!

Next up: Q4!

Family Room Finish

Hello!
I'm attempting my first Blogsy for iPad post. Hope it works!
I had a semi-productive weekend and got my pillows finished! I used more Kona solids from my original bundle. I worry that it's kind of monochrome/boring, but my Stash Bee quilt will liven things up when it's finished!

Early Results!

For my April ALYoF (A Lovely Year of Finishes) goal, I chose the family room pillows. Check me out - it's April 1 and I completed the 2nd pillow today! I'm not yet sure if I'll consider myself finished or if the couch is begging for one more pillow. For full effect, here's the couch with its sad & flat pillows. These suckers spend a lot of time on the floor, being hurled by one sibling to/at another and as doll props.

 I was inspired by the improv projects in Quilting Modern by Jaquie Gering.

Not sure how long before these beauties will be on the floor, beaten up and dirty, but I'll enjoy the view until then.
